Counseling FAQ

What is therapy?

Therapy is the general name for treatments designed to heal psychological and emotional problems through talking. There are many schools of thought and various approaches to Psychotherapy.

Therapy will usually involve the client and therapist meeting for regularly scheduled hour-long sessions, during which they explore the client’s issues, the emotions and beliefs surrounding them, the origins of those beliefs, and the ways they are manifesting themselves in day-to-day life and current relationships; alternative views and options are often identified and tried out.

How long is therapy?

Each individual is different, and length of therapy varies from client to client.

This is an individual choice, and you should take the time to find out whether the therapist you will be seeing is a good fit for you. Please feel free to ask our Therapists any questions that you may have. You can read more about our therapists on the About Us section.

What are some of the benefits of therapy?

One advantage to therapy is that the process gives someone a safe and secure place to explore problems. People deserve a safe and secure environment where they can express themselves freely without the risk of being judged.

The client and the therapist work together to establish realistic goals that they want to achieve from the therapy. In sum, therapy focuses on the client, while the therapist does their best to help the client achieve their goals. Psychotherapy teaches patients life skills that last beyond the course of treatment.
